Tonight, as the last reverberations of the last stroke of midnight fade to silence, a moment falls out of time.  It is yours, if you wish.  While the rest of the world nods this moment away, you can venture into The Week without Responsibilities.  You now have one week all to yourself in which to do whatever you wish.  For the world, it is a moment only.  No offspring or spouse will go without dinner, no boss’s bellow will go unanswered for longer than a runner’s heartbeat.  For you, free and alert in the Not-Time, seven glorious days and nights await.  Will you embrace your whims?

Describe your week of Not-Time.

New students—Log in to class.  Then:

• Go through the course tutorial.
• Introduce yourself on the discussion board.
• And start in on your lessons.  Moderators and grads are available at all times on the boards, and are great about helping new folks.  It’s a good community.
• If you run into trouble you can’t fix through the boards, use my emergency e-mail on you classroom page to let me know.  I’ll get back to you promptly.

You’ll notice that this is no longer a static intro to the course.  I’ve decided to maim a couple of birds with one pretty big stone, so I’ve changed this over to a blog.  Once it’s set up, students will be able to login directly from here (though if you like the fast-loading private login page, that will still be available.

Cool discussions that I note going on in the community will be excerpted here.  Only students will be able to read the full discussions, but…

As students or grad students, you’ll be able to subscribe to this blog as a weekly  update, and find out what you’ve been missing, and how to get there fastest.  You’ll also know when I’m running a survey on new features you want me to offer, and other good stuff.

You’ll get updates on news like this upgrade, too.

And I’ll have a place to post answers to some of the interesting questions I get, where everyone can read them.

If you’re a prospective student, you’ll be able to get an idea of what’s going on in the writing community, ask questions about the course, and get the same updates as students on upcoming events and news.
