Last week I started a short story I developed while taking HTTS and this morning I wrote more in one sitting than I have since Nano. Over 1,000 words. In less than an hour. I coudn't believe it. Now I am 4,147 words into my story and I can see an ending starting to form. This will be the first project I have finished in a long time. It may only be a short story, but in my mind, that is still huge. It gives me the confidence that I need to start planning my YA novel again.
Because of you Holly I know that I not only want, but I NEED to be a writer. Because of you I have found stories that MATTER. Because of you I am excited about writing again. Because of you I feel like I can fly.
No words can describe my thanks. You are amazing.

Thank you Texanne. I am unusually bubbly this morning. I am just so proud I stuck with it this time. Writing is hard work but oh so satisfying!

It's not "only" a short story. It's a whole new short story that did not exist yesterday and today it does. You made it happen!!!

Fantastic. There's no such thing as "only a short story." Stories matter. I'm delighted that you're getting yours on paper, and I'm so happy I can be a part of that.
I'm cheering.

Way to go, Wildheart! May this be the first of many, many stories you both start and finish.

Thank you all! I finished this story on the 30th of April. Now I am planning my YA novel. I haven't felt the thrill of finishing a project in a long time. I've been battling PERFECT and SAFE for over a year, so this is HUGE for me. And now that I've finished that first draft I know that I can do this many more times. And I know I'll be able to do the same with my novel too.
This is...well, there aren't really words to describe it. I'm not just someone who talks about writing now. I AM a writer. And I love it.

Congratulations. I know exactly what you feel because, despite many finished novels and short stories, that's still the way I feel after completing a first draft.

Congratulations!! It's such a great feeling when you finish something.
