Lesson One Completed

Postby lesliegeorgeson » Sat Apr 24, 2010 1:36 pm

OK, folks, I just completed lesson one. It took me three days (with my 3-year-old constantly underfoot, "Mommy" this and "Mommy" that). But it's done. Whew! I have to say the first 100 pages or so I was feeling like it was a waste of time, that the manuscript was worthlesss and just needed to go in the trash. But then, after about page 100, things started to get interesting (that's probably bad from a reader's standpoint if it takes 100 pages to get into the book--eeek!), but from that point on, I had a hard time finding things that needed to be changed/fixed, mostly because, believe it or not, the book actually started to get good! :-) Now that I'm finished with lesson one, I have a target in sight and I can definitely see a way to fix the book (whereas before, I'd given up hope--I wrote this particular book several years ago, couldn't get an agent, so gave up and started something new). Now I'm excited to go on to lesson two! Thanks Holly, for sharing your unique "way" of doing this, and giving me hope! :-)

Um. Wow.

I think it took most of us at least three weeks. Congratulations!

Congratulations!!!

And well done...knowing the inquisitiveness and energy of most 3 year-olds, taking only 3 days is quite a feat :D

Good work, Leslie--
Lots of us took much longer to do the Week 1 worksheets. It really helps fine-tune the focus for revision, doesn't it? And defining the book you wish you had written puts a lot of the joy back into the process, doesn't it? As you go along, you will have times of despair and then times of joyous enlightenment. Welcome to the workshop, and here's you a handful of confetti for your hair! :)TX

Huge congrats on getting through lesson one. And, seriously...WOW. And with a toddler at that.

Three days? That's awesome.

THREE DAYS WITH TODDLER??? (Yes. I am shouting.) That's some serious concentration. Good work!
