“Write A Book With Me” is back!
avatar

Write A Book With Me is MY board in the Boot Camps Forum. ANYONE can play. EVERYONE can read. Just follow the rules.*

You have to have a free General Membership (or better) to get your login, but you can post your word counts, little snippets, and notes about how your writing day went. And if you just want to read along, you can click the link above.

I’ll be there as soon as I get the site revamp done and Create A Character Clinic: 2nd Edition finished and up on all the sites. (I’ll be in Write A Book With Me (fondly shortend to WABWM) on Monday, August 20th. I may have done some weekend words before that.)

But login or create your account now to introduce yourself, your book, and your goals.

THE RULES

*The rules are sacred because my writing time is NOT for other work. When I’m writing, I JUST write.

The rules are:

  • No questions.
  • No off-topic discussions.

So if you have a technical support issue, ask for help in Student Support. If you have a writing question, upgrade to a Short Courses membership, which is available to anyone with a free General membership (information on how memberships work is here). Currently you can get lifetime Short Courses membership for a single $30 payment or $5/month for six months. Writing questions and discussions will be moved to Writer Talk, or into appropriate course workgroups.

  2. Woot! A challenge is a good thing. Thanks for doing this again, Holly! I will probably join in the beginning of September with the HTRYN manuscript I’m doing now. Chances are, I won’t be keeping up with your 250,000+ words goal, but I can definitely commit to 250+ words daily. Yay!

  4. I truly admire your style. Thank you for sharing the creative process. I don’t consider myself a writer at this time, but I am investigating the possibility of it for when I hit retirement in just a few short years-and they do get shorter the older I get. I’ve always found other peoples stories intriguing and many times have told someone they should write a book. Then one day it dawned on me that perhaps I’m the one who should be writing. I love a good story. I am a sculptor in my spare time now, and have been for many years. I can easily identify with your creative process. The two are the same, just the tools are different. For now I will enjoy
Following yours. I wish you grand success, as well as all those who chose to write with you
Unlike the body, the creative mind improves with age, always enquiring, looking to do something different than what was done before, refining and developing, until the sense of satisfaction flows through your very being right out your fingertips. Once you achieve that feeling you can never settle for less. Happy writing!

Well, it does if you USE it. Way too many people don’t, and for them, the mind just atrophies.

  5. I’m so excited about WABWM. I signed up for the first one, I was in my last semester of college and didn’t finish. But this time I’m going to the end. Looking forward to the all the post and comments.

  6. 1. We’ve had a Wabwm thread going in, I think, the HTTS writer talk board. Can we keep it going, or is it transferring to this new main board?

    2. “Formatted for Mobil viewing by Google”: makes the page plain and legible, but couldn’t reply. In case someone else runs into this, clicking “view page directly” fixes it. ;)

  7. I’ve got 146 pages done, and my current plan is to write 4 pages a day. It’s a first draft, so it’s rough, but I’m plugging away! Who was it who said “when you write the first draft write hard, write fast”? I probably need to write faster! :)

  8. YESSSSSS…

I’m in the middle of a complicated international move but as soon as I start writing again I’ll be back in the WABWM game :)

  9. So excited! I really hope that this can help keep me accountable for working on my series. So excited and can’t wait to start! :] Thanks Holly

  10. You get brownies (not brownie points, actual brownies) for using the word bouncily in the email announcement.

I didn’t catch “Write A Book With Me” the first time around, but while reading your site archives it looked very fun. Heading on over to the forums.

  11. I’m looking forward to that although I’ll cheat a little. I’m currently translating my German novels into English (some 600+ K words). I finished 444K words already (220K this year) but plan to get most of the rest done before x-mas. So I’ll probably be a regular in WABWM (also I’m a Moderator in the forum which makes it easy to remember). I’m really looking forward to this.

    • NO. I don’t post my writing. I post numbers. Word counts or page counts.

NOBODY, and I mean no-friggin’-body, sees my first drafts. When I’m finished with the first draft, I’m interested in what my first reader says. That’s it. Writing is not a group process. It’s a solo thing, and I want as little outside input on my actual work as possible standing between me and my eventual reader.

    • Go to Student Support and create a support ticket. Give your USERNAME and the email address you used to set up your account. Tell me what problem you’re having with the system. Include details like the browser you’re using and what you’ve tried.

      I’ll help you get in.

  12. So glad you’re back with this. I read along last time but didn’t take part. Now I’m also back to writing fiction again, I’d love to join in.

  13. Little confused Holly,,it seems to be a free course, but then it throws me for a loop further on when it starts mentioning costs,, so what is the situation please,, many thanx..

    • If you want to use the other boards, you have to have a paid membership.

WRITE A BOOK WITH ME is free to anyone who wants to join. I simply didn’t want to get a lot of customer service requests from folks who didn’t know why they couldn’t use the other boards, so I made sure to include that in my explanation.

  14. I wanna, I wanna. I’m so excited. If I don’t write on my story soon, I’ll die (I’ve been doing HTTS but haven’t gotten to story writing yet.) i haven’t even read the post yet. Jeez, fine, I’ll calm down. No i won’t. Ahhhhhhh!
